• Drive via Shahriston pass (3378m) to Panjakent
• Sightseeing Istarafshan city: Madrasa Kok-Gumbaz, Old city etc.

• Drive to Panjakent
Sightseeing the city: Museum of Rudaki. Panjakent is a birthplace of Abu Abdallah Rudaki, who is considered by many the father of Persian Poetry.  Ancient Panjakent - ruines of old Sogdian town founded in 5th century and abandoned in th 8th century by Arabs. Foundations of houses, a citadel with a couple of Zoroastrian fire temples and city bazaar are visible in the excavated ruins.

Day 3. Panjakent – Dushanbe

• Museum of ethnography – professional showcase of 20th century Tajik art. The collection includes pottery, carpets, cloaks, embroidery, jewelry, musical instruments, woodwork etc.

• Hissar fortress 30km outside of city – the remains of an 18th century fortress, occupied until 1924 is located in 30 km west of Dushanbe. Beside the fortress there are two plain madrassahs, one dating back to the 18th century and the other back to the 19th, and beyond them is the mausoleum of 16th century (25km).

• Drive to Kalai Hum. This region is much more strongly Muslim and this can be seen in the conservative clothing and beards. Over a mountain pass to Kalaikhum and the scenery and people change again. Here the people are Pamiris, not Tajiks, a number of separate tribal groups with their own languages.

• Follow the fascinating road along the Afghan border. On the Tajik side, the road is asphalted and buildings have metal and glass in their construction. On the Afghan side, about 100m away, everything is mud, wood and donkey tracks.

Day 8. Yamg Village - Murgab

Stone pictures of Langar Kisht and sanctuary of Shoh Qambary Oftob. The stone pictures began from north settlement of Langar and drawn until south slopes of Shohdara range. The main part is concentrated in the valley of Hangar-daryo river (the right inflow of Panj river on a 2700-3500mm above the sea level) There are about 600 pictures of wild animals, hunting scenes, horsemen, different forms of tamgi, circles, portrayed rubabs etc.
• The sanctuary of Shoh Qambary Oftob is situated on the territory of Langar settlement. There are many legends among the population about saint Shoh Qambari Oftob.
• Drive to Murgab through Hargush pass.
• On the way excursion to fortified settlement of Ratm and caravansaray of Silk Road.
• Settlement of Ratm situated on the right bank of Panj river, 3-4km north-east of Langar village. The settlement is fenced by walls, fortified by 4 quadrangular towers. The settlement was dated back to 3-2 to 7-8 B.C
