14-day the combination trekking tour. 3 days trekking in Fan Mountains. 2 days trekking in Gunt valley and 3 days trekking in eastern Pamir. During the trekking you get to see both great massive valleys of Fan & Pamirs. In addition, you will see both Western Pamirs with narrow valleys and the lowlanders and Eastern Pamirs, Tibetan kind of highlands with semi-arid dry environment and pastoral communities.

It is hard to imagine Pamir Guides, a successful tour operator in Central Asia, without acknowledging the founding fathers. Saitaali and Kuban, come from a little town called Murgab (3560 m) in Eastern Pamir. They started their career when they were working as guides for ACTED (a French development organization) around the year 2000.

Day 1. Arrival in Panjakent - Zimtut

• Our guide and drivers will meet you at the Border with Uzbekistan.
• On the way to the town visit Sarazm archeological site.
• Then drive to Panjekent town, having lunch in local tea house.
• After visit local bazar, museum.

Day 2. Zimtut - Kuli Kalon

Trekking day 1:
• Walking radial tour around the lakes, to the Mutnoe lake (3400m) and to the highest peak of
Fan Mountains - Chimtarga (5489m).
5 hours of walk.
• The passage is easy, crossing the Zurmech pass (3200m), which takes about 3 hours.
• On the way, you can see a small but extremely beautiful Piala lake with clear water.

• From Kuli Kalon to Chukurak lake, crossing the Alaudin pass (3860m).
5 hours of walk.

• From Marguzor to Sarorot drive.

Day 5. Sarotok - Iskender kul

• Today we end our journey and move toward Dushanbe.
• Stop at Iskanderkul Lake (2195m), covering 165 km or about 6 hours of ride.
• Excursion to the waterfall (45m) and Snake Lake.
• Sailing on the boat on Iskanderkul Lake.

Day 6. Dushanbe – Kalaikum

• You will arrive at Dushanbe airport.
• We will welcome you at the airport, followed by a short relaxation.
• Transfer from Dushanbe to Kalaikum through Sagirdasht pass (3600m).
• Enjoy excellent views on the way, with stops for photo shooting.
• Visit a 10th-century Silk Road building.
• Experience breathtaking landscapes along the Taveldara valley.
• We will drive along the road, having a picnic in pristine nature.

Day 7. Kalaikum – Khorog

• Drive to Khorog, the administrative center of the GBAO region or the Tajik Pamir Mountains.
• Pass through the Vanj valley to enter the Pamir region, both geographically and administratively.
• Along the way, see various villages in both Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
• Enjoy amazing views of the valley.
• Lunch in a chaikhana, a local teahouse.

Day 8. Khorog - Bachor

• Drive from Khorog to Bachor via Gunt valley, then over the Koitezek Pass (4271m).
• Enjoy the beautiful barren landscapes, resembling a typical western desert and canyons.
• On the way, visit the Jilandy hot spring.
• Continue driving to Bachor, a small village far from town.
• Few people live in Bachor village, which is located in an incredible valley.
• The local communities are settled farmers with limited farming activities.
• The local people are very friendly, and their lifestyle is simple and harmonious with nature.
If there is a place to escape the technologically advanced world, it will certainly be Bachor.

Day 9. Gunt Valley

• Not many people visit Gunt valley because it was not historically used as a main path valley like Wakhan or Bartang.
• Nonetheless, the people and nature are unique.
• In the morning, we start walking from Bachor to Chabdar.
• The valley is beautiful, and the path is not too rough, but smooth.
• The path gradually ascends from 2000 to 3000 meters of elevation.
It is better to start trekking from Bachor because the village is located at a lower elevation.
• As we hike, we will begin acclimatizing.

Day 10. Gunt Valley

• In the morning, start walking from Chabdar valley to Zaval Yashilkul lakes.
• As we trek up, the landscape changes from lowlands to highlands.
• The colors transition from green to desert-like.
• The scenery is beautiful and incredibly silent.
• You will not hear any noise except for the natural sounds of wildlife.

Day 11. Zaval – Kengshiber

Day 11. Zaval – Kengshiber

• Today we drive from Zaval along the Yashilkul Lake to Bulunkul Lake, ride or even walk along both lakes. Then continue to Alichor village.

• You might be wondering why we visit settled villages. Even though the landscape is beautiful, there is high domination of nature and wildness in the region.

• Therefore, having lunch in tea house. From Alichor, a small settled village of
nomadic Kyrgyz, we continue our trip by jeep on Pamir Highway to Bashgumbez village. The terrain here is desolate but grandiose. The valley is nice.

• There are many summer pastures where nomadic Kyrgyz graze their livestock. On the way, we will visit Akbalik holy lake or sacred lake. This is holly holy for the people living around the area.

• After we visit Bashgumbes village,9 km from the main road, where you will see a very old tomb. From Bashgumbez Village (3900m) to Akzoo lake, on the way we will cross the Kara - Seky Pass (put the name before the word Pass) (4500m), with a very beautiful view of the mountains.

• On the way we will see marmots and have a picnic. You will witness nomadic life and enjoy the hospitality of Kyrgyz nomads, Overnight in a yurt (BLD). Excursions and leisure Walk , Photo , Hike Where we live Yurt

Day 12. ZorKul – CheshDobo

• In the morning, we start trekking to Zorkul Lake through the Belairyk valley.
• We will use yaks for transporting the luggage.
• Along the way, we will cross the Bel-Airik Pass (5015m).
• We may see Marco Polo sheep during the trek.
• This place is extremely high, but it's worth organizing a yak trek to see the famous Lake Zorkul, also known as Victoria Lake.
• From the pass, we get a great view of the lake from above.
• The scenery is spectacular, and we will set up tents here.

Day 13. ZorKul – CheshDobo

• In the morning, we will start trekking to Kara-Jilga (4000m), a summer pasture.
• This area is where many local communities of farmers from Murgab and Kono Kurgan village come for (jailoo) summer pasture.
• These areas are highly protected by the Zorkul National Park.
• Today, this is one of the only places where Marco Polo sheep (Ovis Poli) still live in freedom.
• It is lovely to see these sheep along the way.
• We will also see Kok-Jigit Lake during the trek.
• Overnight in nomad yurts (BLD).
• Alternatively, we may drive to the hot spring camp at Jarty Gumbez.
• A special service in Jarty Gumbez is the natural hot spring after long days of walking.

Day 14. Jarty - Gumbez - Murghab - Osh

• Today we drive to Murgab, the administrative town of Eastern Pamirs.
• Murgab is the largest district in GBAO, with a vast territory and population.
• We will make a short stop in Murgab before driving to Kara Kul Lake.
• Be prepared for incredible scenery, especially around Kara Kul Lake.
• The highest point of the journey is Akbaital Pass (4655m).
• Karakul Lake is the highest salted lake in Central Asia.
• Today we say “see you later, Tajikistan” as we cross the Kyzyl-Art Pass (4282m) to the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
• Look behind you for a stunning panorama of the Pamir Alai range.
• Lunch in Sary Tash.
• Then drive to Osh.

How physically demanding is this tour?

The tour involves a mix of driving and walking/hiking. While driving is on rough and sometimes challenging roads, the hikes are moderate. It is important to be in good health and to have a moderate level of fitness to enjoy the trekking and walking parts of the tour.
